Episode 143 – In Conversation with Steve Orlando at SDCC!

by Chris Thompson

With Steve Orlando at SDCC …

On this week’s show, I’m joined by James & Liz for a wine-tasting under the guidance of writer Steve Orlando (Undertow, Virgil). Steve discusses the finer points of Californian pinot gris, then opens up about how he got the job on Midnighter at DC Comics, what plans he has for the series, and how his own experiences have informed the character.

This interview was conducted at an outdoor restaurant during the madness of San Diego Comic-Con International, so there is some background ambience, shall we say. It’s a little different to the norm, but then isn’t that what you’d expect of a wine-tasting podcast?

Episode 107 – Talking Bare Bones with Jeff Smith!

by Chris Thompson

With Jeff Smith …

Following on from last week’s very special episode with Scott McCloud & Dave Gibbons (which you can still listen to here), this week I present my panel with Jeff Smith (Bone, RASL, Tuki: Save The Humans) from the recent Lakes International Comic Art Festival.

Jeff & I discuss how he started out, the kind of comics that inspired him growing up, what it takes to craft a satisfying story, how he feels about Bone being one of the most banned books in America, and where he sees himself going next.
