by Chris Thompson

With Chuck Palahniuk …

For Episode 150 I’ve pulled out all the stops to get Fight Club 2‘s Chuck Palahniuk on the show to talk about what comics mean to him. Chuck shares his earliest comic memories, what lured him into this brave new world, how he approaches writing his scripts, and what themes he’s looking to explore with Fight Club 2. Plus he gives me the scoop on his plans for future comics work, including Fight Club 3!!!

Episode 117 – In Conversation with Dave Gibbons!

by Chris Thompson

With Dave Gibbons …

Following on from last week’s show with Kurtis Wiebe and friends, this time I’m back with Comics Laureate and all-round good guy Dave Gibbons (Watchmen, Green Lantern, Kingsman: The Secret Service).

Dave and I met up in his home studio for an exhaustive (though hopefully not exhausting) look back at his career so far – leading up to the release of the new Kingsman graphic novel/film with Mark Millar & Matthew Vaughn.

We discuss how he started out in comics, his days as a real-life superhero with Tornado, the ways in which Watchmen & Kingsman have differed for him, and what people can expect from his role as Comics Laureate for the newly established CLAw (Comics Literacy Awareness) charity.

by Chris Thompson

With Greg Ruth …

After last week’s epic discussion with Emma Rios, Alison Sampson & David Lafuente at D.I.C.E. (which you can still listen to here), this time I’m back with creator Greg Ruth (Conan, The Lost Boy, Indeh) to finish the discussion we began in Episode 101 and finally talk more about him.

Episode 103 – Rios, Sampson & Lafuente LIVE from D.I.C.E!

by Chris Thompson

With Emma Rios, Alison Sampson & David Lafuente …

Following on from last week’s episode ‘live’ at the pub with the hilarious Gerry Duggan (which you can still listen to here), this time I’m back with artists Emma Rios, Alison Sampson & David Lafuente for the insightful European Influence in American Comics panel from last weekend’s Dublin International Comic Expo (aka D.I.C.E.)

The discussion starts on the convention panel with Emma, Alison, David and myself – then continues later on back at the hotel over a few drinks. What starts as an exploration of the European Influence on American Comics quickly becomes a fascinating journey into art, identity, culture, and the labels society can place on you. I promise you’ve never heard a panel quite like this before!
