Episode 86 – ECCC: Paul Allor, Curt Pires & Jason Copland!

by Chris Thompson

With Paul Allor, Curt Pires & Jason Copland …

After last week’s chat with Cullen Bunn (which you can still listen to here), this time around I present the first of three episodes recorded live at Emerald City Comicon.

In this first instalment I chat with Paul Allor & Curt Pires to find out what’s been happening since we last spoke. Then I catch up with Jason Copland – whose brand new series POP! (with the aforementioned Curt Pires) was announced at the show by Dark Horse Comics.

Episode 30 – Things Are Very Fine with Matt Seneca!

by Chris Thompson

With Matt Seneca …

It’s an all-Skype episode this week as I struggle to transmit out of Portmeirion (aka ‘The Village’ from TV’s The Prisoner) and chat with the ever insightful Taylor Lilley.

We discuss our anticipation for, and feelings about, two of this week’s hot new releases: Image ComicsLost Vegas #1 by Jim McCann & Janet Lee and Oni PressHelheim #1 by Cullen Bunn & Joëlle Jones. Did they live up to our expectations? Well, you’ll have to wait and see.

Then I chat with cartoonist Matt Seneca about his new Very Fine Comix line. We discuss comics criticism, where inspiration comes from, the realities of self-publishing, and share our mutual appreciation for the work of Robin Barnard (Images Degrading).

To get in touch, discuss sponsorship opportunities or submit projects for consideration, please email reviews@popculturehound.com. You can also follow me on Twitter: @popculturehound. Linktastic – More Animated Comic Covers By Kerry Callen

by Chris Thompson

Halo & Sprocket creator Kerry Callen has done it again – and this time he’s turned his sights on something a bit more modern! You may remember Callen’s incredible animated GIFs that I linked to a couple of months ago (popculturehound.net/?p=418) – they were unlike anything I’d ever seen and really captured the joy of comics.

In the latest batch, which have just gone up on his blog today, Callen turns the spotlight on Daredevil and Batman (featured below) as well as perennial favourites Calvin & Hobbes. Callen’s blog always has something interesting on offer, so why not bookmark it and see what he gets up to next?
