Director’s Commentary – Mark Buckingham on Fairest!

by Chris Thompson

With Mark Buckingham …

In our latest commentary, Mark Buckingham takes us on a guided tour through the creation of the final Fairest story arc (collected as Volume 5), The Clamour For Glamour. Mark discusses what it was like writing for another artist (Russ Braun) – sharing stories, revealing secrets, and giving the kind of insight you couldn’t get anywhere else. So enjoy, and keep your eyes peeled for future Director’s Commentaries!

Episode 146 – In Conversation with Mark Buckingham!

by Chris Thompson

With Mark Buckingham …

On this episode, I sit down for a chat with writer/artist Mark Buckingham (Fables, Fairest, Miracleman). We discuss his early work as an animator with Aardman, working with Neil Gaiman on The Truth & Miracleman, his breakthrough as an inker in the ’90s, and what brought him back to pencilling again. We would’ve got further, but time was against us – so expect a follow-up soon.

Plus: as an extra bonus, the second-half of the episode features Mark walking guests through his recent exhibition at the Orbital Gallery, followed by a brief Q&A. There’s some really great stuff discussed throughout, so I hope you’ll stay with us through this slightly longer episode!

Episode 27 – Telling Stories with Bill Willingham!

by Chris Thompson

With Bill Willingham …

It’s a big episode this week, so don’t say we didn’t warn you … First up, Taylor & I take a look at Elephantmen #46 by Richard Starkings, Shaky Kane & friends. If you only buy one comic this week then make it that one! As a tribute, we also play another one of the great Shaky Kane’s unreleased tracks. If you missed the first one then you can find that here.

If that’s not enough, we also have an extensive chat with Bill Willingham (Fables, Shadowpact, Elementals) about his career, the current state of Vertigo, his writing process, and the idea behind Fabletown & Beyond.
