With Paul Gravett …

The Marvel Now! odyssey continues as Taylor & I set our sights on A+X #1 and Wolverine & The X-Men #19 (which was a surprise inclusion under the Marvel Now! banner this week).

Then I conduct an in-depth interview with Paul Gravett to discuss the early days, his place in the comic industry, and what it means to be ‘The Man at the Crossroads’. Plus we look at what’s coming up at this year’s Comica Festival (which starts next week).

Episode 11 – with Paul Allor, Larry Tye & Marvel Now!

by Chris Thompson

With Larry Tye …

Join Taylor & I as we have an in-depth discussion about the six new tales featured in Marvel Now! Point One – which form an introduction to the upcoming Secret Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Nova, Young Avengers, FF, and Cable & X-Force series.

From there we shift gears to throw the spotlight on up-and-coming writer Paul Allor who has made his mark on the industry with Orc Girl, various short stories at clockworkcomic.com and, more recently, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fugitoid one-shot for IDW Publishing.

Finally I present my interview with Larry Tye (author of Superman: The High-Flying History of America’s Most Enduring Hero) from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Episode 10 – with Victor Ochoa from Nobodies & Marvel Now!

by Chris Thompson

With Victor Ochoa …

We’re baaaaaack! After a week off to catch our breath and try to regain some semblance of our lives, Taylor and I return to tackle the oncoming storm that is Marvel Now! First up we discuss Jeff Parker, Carlo Pagulayan & Wellinton Alves’ RED SHE-HULK before diving into Rick Remender & John Cassaday’s highly-anticipated UNCANNY AVENGERS.

We then take a look at NOBODIES Volume 1, while Taylor discusses Volume 2 (which is wrapping up a very successful Kickstarter campaign) with series editor and founder Victor Ochoa. For those who are lucky enough to be at this weekend’s New York Comic-Con (NYCC) you can find Victor (and NOBODIES) in Artist’s Alley at Table B6. Why not stop by and tell him we sent you?

And if that’s not enough, this episode also features the debut of a previously unreleased track by the legendary Shaky Kane! Entitled Big Red Planet, we defy you not to let this catchy tune burrow it’s way into your brain and stay there …

Episode 5 – with Curt Pires & David Hine!

by Chris Thompson

With Curt Pires & David Hine …

In this week’s episode, Taylor and I dissect the amazing indie comic LP by newcomers Curt Pires and Ramon Villalobos. Done in a similar style and ethos to Sam Humphries Our Love Is Real, LP is a bold statement from two creators you should really keep an eye on. Curt even stops by to provide some background commentary after our Skype link-up fails.

From there I conduct another one of my famous pub chats with creator David Hine (Strange Embrace, Elephantmen, The Bulletproof Coffin). We discuss his writing technique, the upcoming Storm Dogs with Doug Braithwaite, his gradual shift away from the Big Two to creator-owned projects, and what else is on the horizon.

Episode 4 – with Eliza Frye, Sarah Becan & The 315!

by Chris Thompson

With Eliza Frye, Sarah Becan & The 315 …

This episode continues my aural adventures at San Diego Comic-Con 2012.

First up, I chat with independent creators Eliza Frye and Sarah Becan who were both able to publish their latest work through successful Kickstarter campaigns.

Taylor and I then peel back the layers of the books (Regalia and Shuteye) only to discover – yet again – that we’ve approached them from different angles.

Finally, I present my lengthy interview with Matt Heistand and Dan Fifield of the ThreeOneFive at the rather noisy Dick’s Last Resort. We discuss their web series Deep Dive Daredevils, working on back-ups for Joe Keatinge’s Hell Yeah! and why it takes three guys to write a comic.
