Episode 251 – White Noise Studio at London Film & Comic Con!

by Chris Thompson

With White Noise Studio …

Bet you didn’t see that coming!

Due to popular demand, we’re launching The Best of Pop Culture Hound every second Sunday at Multiversity Comics from August 13 – and to celebrate, we thought it would be fun to drop a new episode to kick things off.

Recorded last month at London Film & Comic Con, this panel brings together writers Ram V (Black Mumba, Quake Champions), Alex Paknadel (Arcadia, Doctor Who), Dan Watters (Limbo, Wolfenstein), and Ryan O’Sullivan (Turncoat, The Evil Within) to discuss their work separately and together as White Noise Studio.

We delve into the reasons behind forming a writers’ studio, the benefits (and side-effects) of banding together, and what the future holds for this writing collective. It’s a fascinating glimpse into the rise of a talented group of young creators.

Episode 207 – Chatting with The Mighty Steve MacManus!

by Chris Thompson

With Steve MacManus & 2000AD …

In a very special episode, we present Chris’ final event at Orbital Comics – hosting Steve MacManus for a discussion about his time at 2000AD and his new book, The Mighty One.

The two of them delve into why now was the right time to tell his story, what consideration went into what to tell, and how he feels about it all looking back.

Plus, as an added bonus, Chris chats with executive producer Nick Rich (TT Games) about the new Lego Dimensions story pack and what they’ve got planned for the year ahead.

Episode 140 – Nick & Zack Keller, Chris Emgard & many more!

by Chris Thompson

With Nick & Zack Keller, Chris Emgard, Man Vs. Rock, Phil Kim & Jason Lenzi …

After last week’s SDCC round-up with James, Liz & Karl, it’s time for a jam-packed SDCC extravaganza as I sit down to chat with Nick & Zack Keller (Death Head), Chris Emgard (Mirror’s Edge: Exordium), Victor De Troy & Kevin Bieber (Man Vs. Rock), Phil Kim (Famous Monsters) and Jason Lenzi (co-founder of Bif Bang Pow!) – whew!

First up I spend time at the Dark Horse stand with Nick & Zack, followed by Chris; then I discover Victor & Kevin in the Small Press aisles; meet up with Phil at the Famous Monsters/American Gothic Press booth; and finish off at the Entertainment Earth booth with Jason. It’s a wonderful and varied series of talks with as much depth as we could manage in the time.
